Our Story

Nearly 50 years
of media legacy, one family name.

The Alsheikh name carries a legacy that began with one man's passion for journalism in 1970s Abu Dhabi. Today, that legacy lives on in a company built to serve the Arabic world.

1970s

Where the Legacy Begins

The story begins with Sameer Alsheikh in Abu Dhabi. At a time when the UAE's press landscape was still being written, Sameer began his career in journalism and communications — working at the heart of the country's emerging press institutions.

Late 1970s

Al Ayaam — Abu Dhabi

Sameer worked at Al Ayaam (الأيام) newspaper and magazine in Abu Dhabi — one of the pioneering journalistic voices in the capital. His years there deepened his expertise and cemented his reputation as a trusted media professional in the Emirates.

Late 1970s

Al Khaleej — Sharjah

Sameer joined Al Khaleej (الخليج), the leading Arabic-language newspaper in the UAE, and became part of the founding team of its local news division. Building a newsroom from the ground up sharpened his editorial instincts and deepened his influence across the media landscape.

Late 1990s

University of Sharjah

Sameer was part of the founding team of the University of Sharjah, serving as a media consultant from the late 1990s into the early 2000s. He shaped the university's public image, brand identity, and outreach strategy — foundational work that was later adopted by the School of Media at UOS. He served the university until recently, a testament to the trust placed in his vision.

Today

The Spirit Behind the Name

Sameer Alsheikh is the inspiration and the spirit behind the name. Nearly 50 years of dedication to the UAE's press and broadcasting landscape — a career defined not by retirement, but by continued commitment. His legacy is the foundation on which everything that follows is built.

Now

Alsheikh Media Today

Hassan Alsheikh (حسّان), Sameer's eldest son, established the studio and runs it today. The company is named after the family legacy — Alsheikh Media. With a background in journalism since 2003, software development, and a curated network of collaborators across communications and tech, Hassan is the current chapter of this story — carrying the name forward with new tools, for new mediums.
